Love & Hate is 3!!

This week marks three years since we first brewed Love & Hate! 

It turns out you loved it! In fact, to date we’ve sold around a million cans. Not bad for a beer that we thought might be a one-off special.

Love & Hate was first brewed 3 years ago and much of the recipe remains unchanged. We have only made process changes to production to improve yield and efficiency. It is still brewed with mountains of hops, Vermont yeast and a big dose of oats, Love & Hate is just as juicily crushable and unapologetically murky as ever.

When we first brewed Love & Hate back in 2018 it was 5.5% and In a 330ml can. Shortly after releasing this we were approached by Tesco who wanted to mix up their craft beer range and add this to their shelves. Knowing this, we upped the ante and boosted it to 7.2%. 

To brew Love & Hate we use our base malt, which is an extra pale ale malt, this is the malt we use for all our products. We also add a combination of speciality malts to provide a smooth silky texture. Love & Hate uses two extremely popular hops Citra & Galaxy hops. Citra Cryo is used in the whirlpool at 75c to impart a smooth hop flavour. The beer is then dry hopped during fermentation with Galaxy and Citra.

True to the style of NE style beers we get our hazy-ness comes from the large amount of protein from the grist - achieved with a big dose of oats and wheat.

Love & Hate was one of the trail blazers for uncompromising craft beer on supermarket shelves. We're so of how far it has come. 

To keep you thirsty lot hydrated, we brew Love & Hate about 8 times a month, producing around 400 hL.  And it's not just in the UK - we regularly export it across Europe, Thailand, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Russia, South America and Japan!
