Double Snowball is a sweet and sticky stout brewed in collaboration with our friends at Pomona Island.
The concept was suggested by James from Pomona, and was inspired by his favourite corner-shop treat.
This is our third collaboration brew with James and the Pomona crew, the first being a Yuzu IPA and the second being the recently released Imperial Mocha.
Pomona Island are based in Salford and are releasing some ridiculously good beers. If you haven't tried them yet... why not!?
Collaboration brews during a pandemic are difficult but we make them work! We normally love having friends from breweries far and near come to join us at the top of the hill, followed by a well-earned drink in our Hebden Bridge bar. But alas, for now, video calls and emails have become the new normal.
Double Snowball was brewed by our Production Manager, Tom Summerscales. Tom has been with us for just over 3 and a half years, having previously been a brewer at Kirkstall Brewery.
To brew Double Snowball, Tom had to double-mash and then boil for 4 hours to achieve the required sugar concretion for fermentation.
Double Snowball does exactly what it says on the tin. The aroma of coconut and sweet chocolate instantly hits you, before tasting a big dollop of marshmallow and a lingering sweetness.
It’s a classic.
