The Barrel Aged Series started at the beginning of 2020. Having previously brewed a few barrel aged beers (old school Vocation fans will remember the likes of Dark Mystic, Oak & Dagger, Imperial Russian Stout) we bought a few barrels previously used to age red wine and some rum barrels to get things started.
The Barrel Aged Series releases 2 beers in each drop, both made from the same initial brew before being aged separately and given their own own complex flavour profile.
The first release was back in April, with a 11.3% Belgian Quadruple and a 10.1% Brett Imperial Stout.
Release 2 included an 11.6% Coconut & Maple Stout aged in Bourbon barrels and a 12% Chocolate & Banana Stout aged in Rum barrels.
The Barrel Aged Series has grown slightly from the initial 2 barrels we had...Now , we have 88 barrels and a designated barrel ageing room at the brewery.
Each beer is a long time in the making, but good things come to those who wait.
