Vocation Brewery began brewing in 2015, quickly gaining a reputation for modern hop forward beers. Using the knowledge of its founder and then the wealth of passion and care that the full brewing team bring, our brewery has grown with high quality and availability being its bedrock.

Our first bar, Vocation & Co, opened in June 2016 to massive success, showcasing not only Vocation products but a huge range of beers from breweries we respect from the UK, Europe and America from time to time.

To pair with the beer we have on offer, we decided to go with a Mexican inspired menu. We serve authentic tacos and Mexican dishes created with the best possible ingredients and to the highest standards. Where possible, we use ingredients from Mexico, where this isn’t viable, we create our own twist on dishes using more local produce.


This role will be supporting the Kitchen Team in the smooth running of all aspects of the kitchen. The right applicant will be expected to be able to work both alone or as a team during service and food preparation. A large part of the quality of our food, is the time spent keeping up to all standards in the kitchen; a high level of attention to detail and cleanliness is essential. The position will be at times intense but is extremely rewarding, creating quality food that is perhaps of a different style.

This role will be paid hourly and the ideal candidate will work approximately 30 hours per week on a flexible rota. Pay will be based on experience.

Working with the Kitchen Team, day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Working quickly and concisely during service with attention to presentation
  • High levels of food preparation to keep up with service
  • Ensuring the kitchen is kept in a clean and tidy state compliant with 5* standards of EHO
  • Ordering/building relationships with suppliers, ordering and stock handling
  • Taking instruction from the Kitchen Team and GM
  • Liaising with Management to assess performance and set targets for the business
  • Ensuring profitability targets are met to continue the viability of the business
  • Receiving customer feedback and taking steps to improve the business
  • Ensuring the site is always safe and secure
  • Ensuring the business is compliant with various government directives

The candidate will require skills or knowledge in:

  • GP management, stock control, P&L
  • Previous experience in similar role
  • Organisation and time management
  • Ability to work in a small team
  • Being in a busy service environment
  • A desire to grow and gain new experiences and skills

Non-essential but desirable skills:

  • Health and Hygiene level 1
  • Health and safety knowledge
