Vocation Brewery

Vocation brewery began brewing in 2015, quickly gaining a reputation for modern hop forward beers. From small beginnings it has grown rapidly to be one of the UK’s leading independent craft breweries.

In June 2017 the brewery opened its tap room Vocation & Co. with Vocation & Co Leeds within Assembly underground following in 2018 and Vocation & Co Manchester within Society, May 2021.


The Role

As the General Manager you will be on the front line, caring for our customers and ensuring they have the best experience possible. You’ll be there to maintain the high standards we set out with responsibility over both our bars drink offering and ensuring financial targets are met. You’ll be leading a team of staff making sure they are the best they can be, and making sure their priority is customer service whilst also liaising with the food traders on site.


Key Duties and Experience

  • The ideal candidate will have 3+ years hospitality/bar management with a proven track record of successfully managing and developing a similar fast-paced business with high-turnover.

  •  You need customer service to always be at the forefront of your mind, ensuring that our customers have the best possible experience.

  • We need someone who knows their porters from their pale ales with craft beer being a real passion and all the skills that go with it; Knowledge of craft beer and the brewing industry, cellar management, stock control and beer range control being essential skills.

  • Whilst beer is our real passion, we don’t want anyone left behind. Therefore, knowledge of wine, spirits, soft drinks and coffee is also essential.

  • Experience in training and developing your team, allowing them to demonstrate and grow their skillset. With experience in staff management, recruitment and staff planning.

  • Our social media presence is important to us. So, making sure we stand out from the crowd with great posts whilst maintaining the appropriate tone is key.

  •  The right candidate will have experience managing in a venue with multiple vendors inside - to ensure all parties needs are met.

  • Making sure our business is always a safe place for our customers and staff. Knowledge of health & safety and any other government standards is vital.


Skills & Requirements:

The candidate will require skills or knowledge in;

  • GP management, stock control, P & L.

  •  Effective organisation and time management skills.

  •  Ability to lead a team of staff.

  •  Ability to train and inspire staff.

  •  Being in a highly social environment.

  •  High quality beer service and a broader spectrum of alcohol.

  • A desire to grow and gain new experiences and skills.

  •  Computer literacy with Word and Excel experience essential.


Non-essential but desirable skills:
  • Events experience.

  • Personal License holder.




  • Working hours are Monday-Sunday in-line with business opening hours.

  •  Permanent position with a potential immediate start.

  •  Salary 28-33K, based on experience.
