Lead Brewer

It's exciting times here at Vocation and we are looking to recruit an experienced lead brewer, or a brewer who wants to take a step up.

We are growing fast, and are just about to install a new 30bbl brewhouse to run alongside our existing 15bbl kit.  We are also about to install a new in-house canning line and automated kegging line, so there’s lots to keep us busy!

You will report directly to the head brewer and deputise in his absence, so you must have solid commercial brewing experience. 

A creative streak would be a distinct advantage, as we plan to significantly raise our game this year with regard to new/experimental beers.


Your day to day responsibilities would include:

  • Wort Production
  • Fermentation Monitoring
  • Managing raw material levels
  • Supervising the brew team and helping them to develop their skills
  • Maintaining records in line with our SALSA accreditation
  • Recipe creation/development


Ideally you will have knowledge of COSHH, HACCP and the SALSA requirements.  An FLT licence would also be very useful.

Commercial brewing experience is essential. Formal qualifications are desirable but not absolutely necessary - however you must be willing to work towards them.

Weekend work and some night work will be involved.  Salary will be competetive
