Vocation Brewery is looking for an experienced and ambitious Human Resources and Health and Safety Manager to drive continued people development and health and safety initiatives across the business.

 

As a business with a manufacturing facility, warehousing and bars the scope of Human Resources and Health and Safety is wide and varied, and the right person will be ready to roll up their sleeves to implement best practices and ensure the business has the right people with the right support behind them.

 

What’s the job?

You will be responsible for the recruitment, onboarding, training and development of Vocation Brewery and Bars 120 employees as well as working with the outsourced Health and Safety advisors to ensure we operate safe workplaces without risk to health.

 

The ideal candidate will have a passion for people and demonstrate a drive to continuously improve.  With experience in manufacturing the ideal candidate will have an HR Level 3 qualification and a NEBOSH General Certificate (or agree to pass the NEBOSH exam in the first 6 months of employment).

 

Responsibilities

 

Human Resources

  • Manage the recruitment and selection process
  • Champion the onboarding process by leading inductions that share the Vocation ethos and align all new staff with our goals and objectives, while also ensuring the appropriate training and compliance is covered
  • Hearing and resolving employee grievances, training managers to coach and discipline employees, and counselling employees and supervisors
  • Review and, when necessary, develop job descriptions and implement an annual review process across the business
  • Build strong relationships with external HR advisors, fostering trust and promoting collaboration
  • Review and manage employee expenses (both personal and through the company credit card)
  • Handle confidential matters with discretion

 

Health & Safety

  • Ensure a safe workplace environment without risk to health.
  • Ensure that all Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated.
  • Ensure the Company meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety and welfare at work, including statutory training and reporting.
  • Ensure the completion and regular review of risk assessments for all work equipment and operations.
  • Ensure that all accidents are documented, investigated and recommended improvements implemented.
  • Ensure that safety inspections are carried out, fire drills and fire alarms are correctly reported, safety
  • inspections, risk assessments and lone working procedures are managed and employees are aware of their responsibilities.
  • Co-ordinate the development of health & safety policies, systems of work and procedures.
  • Ensure full and accurate health and safety and training records are maintained.
  • Establish a full programme of documented health & safety inspections, audits and checks.
  • Establish a structured programme of health & safety training throughout the Company.
  • Liaise with external health & safety consultants in the provision of training programmes and health and safety services.
  • Manage and devise the agenda for, chair and formulate & distribute minutes for the Health & Safety Committee meetings.

 

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in Human Resources
  • HR Level 3 Qualification
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or agreement to pass the exam in the first 6 months of employment
  • Strong organisational skills, routines, and processes that deliver success, with an eye for detail
  • People orientated with the competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company.
  • A can-do attitude, prepared to roll-up your sleeves to get the job done
